Session Thirty Five
GM: This is the greatest number of Aliases
GM: I’ve ever had up
GM: I didn’t know that malei was on Zen’s ship
Alusair: yeah, he is
Alusair: he’s natalia’s #2
When last we met, Shenvallei and Jhaelyn rescued Alusair and Jesebel, and bring them back to Sigil.
Shenvallei insulted Riley to the point of driving her off, and you both proceded to go to the Celestial Peaks to swap tales, with Jesebel in tow.
Shenvallei D’ansille sits looking at Alusair with astonished horror at the completion of her tale.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “I do not know how you have kept your sanity after such an ordeal. The physical pain alone would drive anyone mad.”
Kiergath (Alusair): back.
Alusair continues looking at Jess, waiting in resigned silence for an answer.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “You have… sacrificed so much Alusair. I detest all of those who have brought suffering and loss to us, especially you.”
Shenvallei D’ansille then turns to Jesebel his face stone.
Jesebel: “What… you honestly think that I was involved in all of this? How dare you!”
Alusair flinches as if struck. “Is it so much to ask for you to swear you were not?”
Jesebel: “Is it so much to ask for your trust? I, who should be above your suspicion! I have done nothing but give to you both, and recieved nothing in return! Shenvallei, to you, I never have been anything but a slave, a curiosity!”
Alusair: “Above my suspicion? I’ve told you what happened! A little sodding reassurance would seem like not much to ask, given what I’ve just gone through!”
Alusair: Shen, how complete were you in relaying your tale?
Shenvallei D’ansille: Pretty thorough.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “You… you cannot mean those words Jesebel.”
Alusair: “Or were you enjoying yourself too much whoring to care what they had happen happen to me in the mean time?”
Alusair: at this point, the expression and attitude has gone from primarily hurt and confused to hurt and borderline furious.
Jesebel: “Oh, don’t you talk to me about whoring! You, running off to sleep with those baatezu, without so much as a word!”
Alusair: “Perhaps you’d prefer I’d let them tear Shenvallei to pieces? I also don’t recall leaving you in danger when I left.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Stop. Please. This is getting us nowhere. Alusair, may I have a word with you?”
Shenvallei D’ansille stands and moves to a different table away from where Jesebel is.
Alusair stands and walks over to where Shen is. “Make it good.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “I am either a fool to have thought Jesebel was something she is not or…”
Alusair: “Or I have been deceived.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “That is not Jesebel.”
Alusair: “A third option.”
Alusair: “Tell me, Shen. Is a promise so much to ask from a mortal?”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “I have heard of cloning magics, physical exact copies complete with past memories. But the personality is different, the soul is different. And no it is not. Promises are easily given the difficulty lies in keeping them.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “In this case all we want is the truth. And if I have learned anything from my time here is that things may not be what they seem.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “I have nothing more to say. Are you ready to go back to her now?”
Alusair walks back to the table and slumps into the chair, looking at Jess. She looks.. tired, worn.
Shenvallei D’ansille sits as well.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Jesebel. May I ask you something? What do you want of Alusair and of me?”
Jesebel: ”...want? What do you mean, want?”
Alusair: “I tend to agree – what do you mean ‘what’?”
Alusair looks at Shen.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “I mean, how do you want the future to be in regards to us?”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Honesty is a friend to us all here, spare not your words.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Do you want things to go back as they were before this whole calamity of your kidnapping? Or has it changed your desired path?”
Jesebel: “Calamity of the kidnapping? There was no calamity… I was treated with the utmost respect and cordiality, unlike when I’m around you. Oh you dote, and you dote, but you don’t CARE. You never cared about ANYTHING. You’d just as soon kill someone as look at them. You sicken me.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “So, that is your only wish then? To be treated with respect and cordiality?”
Alusair: “Charming.. I wonder when she’ll start laying into me.”
Alusair: “I’ve already had my physical heart torn out, whats the metaphorical one worth?”
Jesebel: “Hah… imagine that, the two of you respecting anything! I haven’t seen you respect anyone but your own wishes ever since I came to you!”
Alusair: “Yes.. selfishness is the first thing I would accuse myself of. You’re not even trying.”
Shenvallei D’ansille looks away.
Jesebel: “That’s right! Can’t even look me in the eye, so base a being are you! You’d sooner ignore the truth than face it! And you, Alusair, to think you defend him, time after time, when he should have died from his carelessness so long ago! How can you be so gods damned selfless!”
Alusair: “Goddess! That everyone should insult me like that! Are you so blind – and you a Sensate! – that you’ve forgotten how you learned? And are you so blind to look at Shen now and think him as much a fool as he was when he first entered Sigil?”
Jesebel: “Gone are the days of foolish innocence! We all learn as we live! But what have you learned, Alusair? You abandoned your goddess to save this Prime, and what has that done? What has that gained you?”
Alusair stops smiling and stares at Jess.
Alusair: “Yes.. I lost so much when I turned from my goddess. When I gave a fiend my already shattered faith. He must have thought that quite a victory, unless he’s watched since.”
Alusair: “The shattered faith of a paladin who had already begun to see the truth, for the soul of a Prime? Who peeled who? I have a patron, and I know her more truly than I ever knew Bast.”
Alusair: “Do not think to lecture me on my religion.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “And so now after all we have been through. All that has been sacrificed, you bring forth this animosity on us. I can never repay Alusair for her sacrifice, but I would never turn my back on a friend.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Instead of finding a way to help me tommorrow in the courts I used the last of my time to find you Jesebel. I’ve risked my life to see to your safety when you fell from the top of the pyramid stones. It was never for my own selfish reasons! Tell me my actions were foolish that I saw something special in you and I will never trouble you again.”
Jesebel: “Oh, I am more special than you would ever know… and each of your actions were selfish, you cannot deny it. Any act is selfish if you do it for your reasons. You saved me because you wanted to. Don’t dare point your finger at me for your actions.”
Shenvallei D’ansille looks to Alusair then back down at the table.
Alusair shakes her head, “I don’t know how you live with an outlook like that.. but you never used to hold it. I used to think I knew you, but you’ve changed.. I could have, did, love you once.. now.. now I think, most of all, I fear you.”
Jesebel: “Your fear is well deserved… it is not often that you can give your heart more than once… and you gave it to me, and in doing so, gave it to a higher power.”
Alusair: “To think.. if you’d but asked, it would have been given freely. I would have died for you, Jess.. before.”
Shenvallei D’ansille raises his head.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “So it is then that you did ally with the cult of Oengam and aided in Alusair’s unwilling sacrifice?”
Jesebel: “Oh, you did die for me… many times, you died for me… you gave me your heart gladly, and I took it from your chest, offering it to one so deserving, so pure…”
Jesebel smiles, a droplet of blood pooling at the corner of her mouth, slowly dripping down her chin.
Alusair reaches out and, unless stopped, wipes it away.
You wipe it away, but the trail it made does not fade.
Alusair looks, amusedly, at the blood on her finger, sniffing it slightly.
Alusair licks it off, “So.. here we are..”
Jesebel: “Why yes we are… but I don’t see why the both of you shouldn’t come join me… I could use servants like you…”
Alusair: “My loyalty is already cast with a power, Jesebel.. even if I desired it, I could not give my oath to another.”
Jesebel: “Oh, how false, and you know it. You’ve already abandoned one power. Simply cast your new one down and worship me instead… I have felt your heart yearning, in my hands…”
Alusair looks at Jess, once again saddened, “Worship you? For you, for yourself, I have wanted to do nothing more. As a power?” She shakes her head, “I cannot. You cannot begin to know the reasons for my change of faith.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Who are you? What are you? And who do you serve then Jesebel?”
Alusair: “I think, Shenvallei, that you miss the point..”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “She is Oengam?”
Alusair: “Goddess! You can lead a Prime to water and make him drink as well!”
Alusair: “It may be like attempting to herd a sphinx, but you can do it.”
Jesebel: “Yes… your little adopted daughter, who you ignored, did not care about, will be the most fearsome power the multiverse will ever know! Do you care about me now?!”
Jesebel ’s eyes flash with anger.
Alusair: “I always did.”
Alusair: (quietly, under her breath)
Shenvallei D’ansille: “So, was it by Jesebel’s choice then? Or did you just take over her mind and body?”
Alusair: “Interesting try, Shen.. but that particular posession ended.”
Alusair: “There is no-one in there but Jess, and I would trust the spirit that inhabited her body.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “To what end then? Power? Respect?”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Why are you doing this?!?”
Jesebel: ”...why would a cutter do anything? It’s in my best interest… I never have experienced godhood… I figure it’d be good for a laugh.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Its alot to sacrifice for even the possibility of attaining it.”
Alusair: “I’d say she’s got the sacrifice part down.”
Jesebel: “Those puny mortals gladly lay themselves on their altars for the chance at my favor… the mere whisper of my name is enough to send them into throes of ecstasy, and they all but rush to deliver me their hearts.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “You speak as if you are already transcended.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “yet you sit here helpless in the Celestial Peaks tavern in Sigil.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “I beleive you are deliusional.”
Jesebel: “You truly believe me to be helpless, puny mewling?”
Alusair: “Can we kindly not destroy the bar?”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “So then are you here for your own entertainment?”
Jesebel: “Come… kiss me, and I’ll show you exactly how helpless I am… reach out, touch my hand…”
Jesebel reaches her hand out, demurely, to Shenvallei.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “I think not. And you must be disappointed. What does anything you do have to do with me anymore.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “I think you are so starved for attention that you want this to happen. Whats wrong child? Do you feel neglected from the ‘puny mortal elf’? Have you forsaken us or was it the other way around?”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Will you cry now for your loss? Or will you wait till you truly have nothing left?”
Alusair: “You do, perhaps, understand that this ‘child’ is older than you are yourself.. yes?”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Not in wisdom. Her mind is that of a child. A spoiled chiled starved for love that she pushes away when given.”
Alusair: “I was in Sigil – not a resident – when she was Factol of the most powerful faction in the Cage. That was a hundred and twenty, maybe a hundred and thirty years ago.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “No wonder it failed then.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “As will this plan and the next and the next.”
Alusair: “Shen? The Society of Sensation. They were, and are, still the largest and most powerful faction in the Cage.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Others may fear you. For me you have my pity.”
Jesebel: “You pity me? How sweet…”
Jesebel: “Your pity has touched me so, that I shall give you a gift…”
Jesebel stands up, slowly.
Jesebel: “I will bestow upon you the pity of all who look upon you… who see you for what you truly are.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: I stand as well quickly.
Alusair remains sitting.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “All Hail the former Factol of the Society of Sensation! Oengam! otherwise known as Jesebel!” I announce to the bar.
GM: The bar patrons… don’t seem to care.
GM: A few start laughing.
Shenvallei D’ansille: Thats all I need.
“That’s the former factol? Damn! I’d hit that with anything!”
Alex: All you need?
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): just hoping to get some witnesses in case she does something hostile.
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): not like itll help but it may give her pause is my logic
Jesebel: “Aw… how does it feel to be pitied by all of those around you, seeing your desperate grab for attention for what it really is?”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Stop talking and act.”
Alusair doesn’t seem to be paying much attention, and is just sitting and looking into her glass.
Jesebel slowly, in a sultry manner, sways around the table, walking towards you.
GM: She’s drawing awfully close. Do you act, or do you let her act first?
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Do it. Touch me and seal our enimity.”
Jesebel smiles, her teeth dazzling, and slightly red.
GM: Shenvallei, Will save.
Shenvallei D’ansille: Will save [1d20+2 = 11]
Shenvallei D’ansille: if its enchantment another +2
You feel compelled to reach forward, drawing closer to Jesebel, until you kiss her soft lips. You feel your force of will draining from you, your body feels weak.
Jesebel: “I knew you’d see it my way…”
Jesebel smiles at you.
Shenvallei D’ansille: query: Do I feel of my own will?
You felt like you were committing the whole act of your own free will.
Shenvallei D’ansille: right but now that she spoke am I free to act as I wish?
Shenvallei D’ansille: Initiative [1d20+5 = 18]
GM: Act at leisure, Shenvallei.
Alusair: “Walk with me a moment? Please?”
Shenvallei D’ansille: I shove her back away from me with both arms.
Shenvallei D’ansille: Standard Attack (Attack 1) [1d20+1 = 2]
Shenvallei D’ansille: Standard Attack (Attack 1) [AUTOMATIC MISS]
Kiergath (Alusair): You lack the strength of your convictions, good sir!
Kiergath (Alusair): Anyone know the quote?
Kiergath (Alusair): vampire movie.
Jesebel from Shenvallei’s sudden embrace, “It would seem that Shenvallei does not wish me to walk with you… maybe he has decided to bed me after all!”
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): I know it, I own that movie.
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): that was pretty close I think
Kiergath (Alusair): As far as I know, the quote is spot on.
Alex: The hug is from the failed attack
Alex: And is returned by her.
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): I think it was just sir, not good sir
Kiergath (Alusair): It may be.
Kiergath (Alusair): Movie?
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): interview with a vamp
Kiergath (Alusair): Nick wins 500 internets!
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): lol
Kiergath (Alusair): I think you’re right, come to think of it.
Kiergath (Alusair): sigh
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): followed by ‘do it!’
Kiergath (Alusair): okay, we’re done hijacking
Jesebel snuggles in close to Shenvallei.
Shenvallei D’ansille: Standard Attack (Attack 1) [1d20+1 = 21]
Shenvallei D’ansille: Standard Attack (Attack 1) [CRITICAL THREAT]
Shenvallei D’ansille: Standard Attack (Attack 1) CONFIRM
GM: What manner of attack is it?
GM: A punch, a shove?
Shenvallei D’ansille: shove
Jesebel goes tumbling backwards into a table of toughs, landing on it, in the middle of their drinks.
The toughs look up at Shenvallei, suprised, and delighted.
GM: Do you act again?
Shenvallei D’ansille: “She is all yours boys, she likes it rough.”
Alusair mutters under her breath in an odd language.
Jesebel: “Oh yes… please, take me, ravage me, but see that Prime outside first… then I’m all yours.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Oh she means for payment, but this one is on the house.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “And when she says no, she means yes.”
Alusair stands up and walks for the door with an apologetic glance at the barkeep.
Alusair: On the way, attempt to pick Jess up off the table.
Jesebel smiles at Shenvallei. “Please don’t hurt my boyfriend! You saw him kiss me!”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Boyfriend? no Im just her previous customer.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: I start heading out the door.
You find yourself outside, followed by three tough looking humans and a Dwarf. The door is closed behind them, and you feel laughter in your bones.
“Oh gods, this is going to be good“
Shenvallei D’ansille: I turn around.
“Callin’ a sweet honey like that a prostitute should be a crime, berk…”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “You a ‘ardhead or just a drunk?”
One of the ones… better armed and armored than the others, wearing some sort of protective charm around his neck, reaches into his breastplate and draws out a sheet of paper, detailing his enlistment in a special, undercover division of the Harmonium.
“Yes, I am a Harmonium Agent. Do you have a license for soliciting that woman as a prostitute?”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “No.”
Man: “I am going to insist that you come with me. Soliciting a woman as a prostitute is a crime, unless you are licensed to do so.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Its fine, that isnt a woman.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “So I guess Im off the hook huh?
Shenvallei D’ansille: “
”...that is a woman. Attempting to decieve, or lie to a Harmonium Agent is a violation of the Law.”
Kiergath (Alusair): Nick, remind me to ask Shen next time I see him.
Kiergath (Alusair): I need to find out who your next of kin in Sasal is
Kiergath (Alusair): :P
Shenvallei D’ansille: “How can you be sure it is a woman? I say its a godling in the form of a woman. I do say if you Hardheads are going to make the laws you should be a bit more thorough in your specifics.”
“Ahem… we “Hardheads”, as you say, respected Agents of the Harmonium, do not make the Law. We uphold the Law. Enforce the Law. And by the Letter of the Law, she has the right number of holes, and she’s got tits, which means she’s a woman in any book that counts.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Where’d you learn your law cutter? The school for the academically challenged in the Hive? In any case Im not going with you over such a frivolous happenstance.”
“I learned the law at the Fraternity of Order’s Institute for Criminal Justice, and I spent Six Years working in the Hall of Records, studying cases, and filing documents. All Laws were created by the Fraternity of Order, and they Must be Followed, otherwise Chaos will Rule. You Will Respect The Law.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Im on temporary parole awaiting my hearing tommorrow for previous charges. Add it to the list but until then…”
Shenvallei D’ansille: I hold up my parole papers.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Im walking free.”
Man: ”...are you aware, that while on parole, breaking Any Law constitutes a Breach in Parole, and is grounds for Immediate Arrest.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: “That so? Hmm learn something new every day.”
Alusair comes up behind Shenvallei, “Officer, the circumstances are complicated. For one the woman was, as is, not a whore. She has been troubling us for some time, and I have just finally reached an understanding with her.”
Alusair: “I will admit heated words were spoken, but last I knew tavern violence was not a crime – it is, in fact, a rather common thing in Sigil.”
Alusair: “Finally, I was going to take Shen to an inn near the court when the incident broke out, so if you’ll kindly release him into my custody, I’ll keep him there until his court date in the morning.”
“You speak fact… if it were not for Tavern Violence my job would be all but Impossible. I appreciate your Cooperation, Citizen. See to it that this man from Faerun is delivered to the Court at the Appropriate Time.”
Alusair bows to the officer, “Of course.”
He bows to Alusair. “Keep your Nose Clean, Citizen. Law be with you.” He turns and marches off down the street.
Alusair: “Come on Shen.. before we find any other ways to get scragged.”
Shenvallei D’ansille: Follow.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “So. Understanding?”
Alusair: “Private matters. There is no understanding between Jesebel and we as a group. If I meet her again outside of Sigil, I will most likely attempt to kill her.”
Alusair: “But I will continue to love her, even as she chokes out her last breath around the tip of my blade.”
Alusair grins at Shen, starting to sound like her old self, “If bein’ selfless be a crime, then let me be damned.”
Shenvallei D’ansille hugs Alusair suddenly. “Im glad you are back Al.”
Alusair: “Oy! ‘Ere now, whats this barmy shite?!”
Alusair laughs and hugs Shen back.
Shenvallei D’ansille: “Just a brief moment of happiness in all this insanity.”
Alusair grins, stepping back. “Don’t make a habit of this sort’ve thing, berk.”
Alusair: “Come on, we’ve got a court date in the morning.”
Alusair: “And I sodding hate guvners.”
Shenvallei D’ansille nods following Alusair.
Alusair: Find an inn.
Alusair: Pay for rooms.
Alusair: And for hell’s sake.. SLEEP.
Alusair: I want my spells back
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): fyi I may have to cut it short early tonite. I have chores to do and mother is visiting in the morning.
Alex: How short are you thinking?
Kiergath (Alusair): Oh pike it, we can manage.
Kiergath (Alusair): Just hang him if we run outta time.
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): Ill let you know, prolly another 10-20
Kiergath (Alusair): Nevermind, hang him now.
Kiergath (Alusair): No time for a trial, but plenty of time for a gallows.
Kiergath (Alusair): :P
Alex: I think we’ll call it, and continue tomorrow
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): hells
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): well friday sat and sunday I have to work till midnight pacific.
Kiergath (Alusair): youch.
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): yup its payback from taking last weekend off
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): Thus the reason I need a new part time job
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): anyway I wont bore you with all that bs
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): point is I wont be around till monday.
Kiergath (Alusair): sorry
Kiergath (Alusair): geyyyyyyyyyy
Alex: Well…it’ll give me more material to use in the trial, I guess
Kiergath (Alusair): Delaying justice?
Kiergath (Alusair): or did you mean more time to work on it?
Kiergath (Alusair): :P
Shenvallei D’ansille: Resetting Wizard Powers
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): you lack the courage of your convictions sir, do it!
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): thats the line
Kiergath (Alusair): figures.
Alex: Oh, Nick, in case you didn’t notice
Alex: You have 3 Cha damage
Shenvallei D’ansille: Physical or psychological?
Shenvallei D’ansille: In what fashion?
GM: You are lacking a certain force of personality… everyone around you looks at you with pity.
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): some people thrive on pity
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): of course it takes the potency out of anything said
Shenvallei D’ansille: While resting I cast and rememorize prestidigitation several times cleaning my clothes/body/hair/ect. And then wait for the trial.
Ah. The inn has a laundry and a tailor, as well as a bath.
It’s designed for people awaiting trial.
Alusair: thank fucking god
Alusair: FIX CLOTHES PLX
Alusair: ...oh, who am I kidding
Alusair: theres not enough left to fix
You get things on the house, as they figure they’ll just get the clothes back right afterwards.
Shenvallei D’ansille: Prepared as best I can we head to the courthouse.
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): monday?
Alex: yeah, monday
Alex: It may take a whole session
Kiergath (Alusair): I’d like to lodge a formal complaint.
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): rodger rodger
Kiergath (Alusair): I can’t wait that long, I’ll chew my beard off.
Kiergath (Alusair): :P
Alex: I’m not running the damn thing twice!
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): lol that lawyer will be there
Alusair: you mean
Jan van Haal: me?
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): lol there he is!
Jan van Haal: this portrait is a substitute
Jan van Haal: I’ll get the right one for monday
Dragonling: but enough of that depressing stuff
Dragonling: EVERYBODY POLKA!
Nick (Shenvallei D’ansille): ok afk doing chores ttyl
Dragonling: I declare this the winningest portrait ever
Dragonling: later, Nick
STAY TUNED FOR THE TRIAL OF SHENVALLEI
They discuss with Jesebel her involvement with Alusair’s torture, and she confesses to the whole thing. Shenvallei kisses her, losing charisma in the process, and instigating a fight with an undercover Harmonium agent. They find an inn next to the courthouse, to rest for the big Trial tomorrow.
Jan van Haal: thar we go
Jan van Haal: did you see Iakken’s port?
Sergeant Iakken Nefud: Mul.
Sergeant Iakken Nefud: :P
GM: Now I close?
