‘Kiergath’ connected
Alex: ALlo!
(Unnamed): where was I…
(Unnamed): Level of replacement?
(Unnamed): slash alternate
GM: Uh…7-8
‘Nick’ connected
(Unnamed): don’t mind me, I’m being paranoid.
Alex: Hello!
Nick (Arkail Jogren): hi!

GM: So, shall I recap?
Kiergath ((Unnamed)): aye, feel free
Nick (Arkail Jogren): please
We rejoin our newfound heroes in what is commonly known as the Bar of Belief. Arkail is regaling the bar with stories of his adventures, and is joined by Alusair, when he is interrupted by a brash, bold man of many scars, who tells a tale of a forgotten artifact which lets those who possess it control the fabric of the planes themselves. The pair extract the location of the forgotten artifact – in the posession of the Cranium rat queen in the sewers under the hive. They travel to the entrance of the sewers in the Hive.
Alex: Do we have any questions before we go on?

Arkail Jogren: Just the 2 of us currently correct?
Nick (Arkail Jogren): also the crystal that Alusair took, was that the artifact or something different?
GM: Yes.
GM: From what you gathered from the story, they’re parts of the same artifact, if the man is to be believed.
Arkail Jogren: “What is our intention? To return the artifact for a reward to this queen rat? Or something different.
Arkail Jogren:
Alusair seems about to break into a fit of giggles, “R.. return… an artifact.. to a cranium rat?” She seems on the verge of losing control of her laughter, “Luv, I don’t care what this rat calls itself. I’m certainly not going to hand this thing to a rodent.”

Arkail Jogren: “Hmm so your goals lie greater than personal wealth, a fine story this will make.”
Alusair: “Wait..wait… what?”
Arkail Jogren: “Our purpose then is to slay the queen or at least steal her artifact I presume. That means power and knowledge is what is guiding you to my eyes.”
Alusair: “I’m so glad I’m more interesting to you because my avarice extends beyond gold count.”
Arkail Jogren shrugs.
Arkail Jogren: Resetting Skald (Suel Archanamach) Powers
The air around you grows a bit fetid, but that could be because a nearby beggar is digging around in a trash pile.

Alusair: “Charming place.”
Arkail Jogren: “Come, it only gets worse the deeper in we go.”
Alusair: walk on.
Arkail Jogren: I lead us to where the portal to Vaasa is.
You trek towards the location of the portal, passing several offchutes on the way. The smell grows worse the closer you get to the portal.
Arkail Jogren: “This location can serve as an escape route if we bite off more than we can chew.”
Arkail Jogren: “The prime world I hail from lies beyond. From here I know not the direction of this rat queen.”
Alusair: “Whats the key?”
Arkail Jogren: “I do not know. It responds to me for some reason.”

Indeed, Alusair, the faint outline of the portal ahead seems to be shimmering.
Alusair: “Charming. So I just need to make sure I bring part of you with me if you get eaten.”
Arkail Jogren: “I would hope you would care for my survival. And moreso that you need not carry pieces of my corpse.”
Alusair: “Huh.”
Arkail Jogren sighs.
Arkail Jogren: “Watch my back cutter itll be worth your while.”
Alusair: “Oh, you’re taking point? This is a pleasant change, usually I’m the one who gets to trip all the traps.”
Arkail Jogren: “Oh? I could not have guessed.”
Arkail Jogren mumbles to himself, points in a random direction. This way its as good as any.

You set off forward, into the dank, dark sewer.
Arkail Jogren: Draw my axe.
Nick (Arkail Jogren): if an axe can be drawn.
Kiergath (Alusair): well, yes.
Alex: It can. It can even be lightly sketched.
Kiergath (Alusair): unless you carry it around all the time.
Nick (Arkail Jogren): nice Alex >:P
A particularly pungent odor assails the both of you, and up the passage, to the right, you hear a moaning sound.
Arkail Jogren: Creep forward.
GM: [1d20 = 15]
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Move Silently] [1d20+5 = 6]
Nick (Arkail Jogren): lam
Arkail Jogren ecakes
Arkail creeps forward, gently stepping on a rat, which squeals loudly and runs off.
The moaning stops, and you hear three faint splashes, followed by silence.
Arkail Jogren waits.
Alusair draws her sword and sighs sky-ward.
Nothing moves in the shadows beyond.
You can just barely make out the T-junction ahead, before what little light provided by the portal fades out completely.

Arkail Jogren: how far behind me is Alusair?
GM: Ten feet?
Alusair: works
Arkail Jogren moves forward a bit more.
You move forward. You are close to the corners of the T-junction, but you cannot see into the darkness beyond.
Arkail Jogren: set down and try to light a torch.
Arkail Jogren: “Unless you have a magical source of light.”
Alusair: “Afraid not.”
Alusair: Turn away.
You manage to turn a bone into a torch, using some strips of old cloth you find laying around.

Arkail Jogren: Put away the greataxe draw my one hander.
Arkail Jogren: head to the T junction look both ways.
You peer down to the right, and you see the waterway littered with corpses, and some dripping substance coming from the cieling.
The torch sends eerie shadows all throughout the tunnel, and eerie reflections along the waterway. It looks as though there are bodies underneath the water.
Alusair: “Lovely.”
Arkail Jogren: “A dark sight.”

Arkail Jogren: Look the other way.
You turn your back on the gruesomeness.
The other way has some bodies, but at least your torch doesn’t seem to illuminate corpses in the black water.
Alusair: raises hand I don’t
GM: You are at the T-junction back to back, then?
Arkail Jogren: Seems so for the moment.
The torch loses a few scraps of burning cloth into the water, where they sizzle as they extinguish.
Arkail Jogren: “We should keep moving.”
Alusair: “This is true.”
Arkail Jogren: Walk forward carefully.
Arkail moves forward, creating a cold chill where he once stood behind Alusair.
Alusair, do you move?
Alusair: Yep.
GM: How do you move?

Alusair: Follow him.
Alusair: Not particularly concerned about stealthyness.
GM: Very well.
GM: Listen checks
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Listen] [1d20+3 = 7]
Alusair: Skill [Listen] [1d20+6 = 10]
You hear a rat skittering along up ahead.
Arkail Jogren: Keep moving.
You move forward, to another junction… Listen check.
Alusair: Skill [Listen] [1d20+6 = 17]
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Listen] [1d20+3 = 20]
Alusair, you hear movement in the tunnel behind you.
Arkail, you hear movement above you.

Alusair: Turn
Arkail Jogren: Look up.
Alusair – you see, further down the corridor, three corpses shuffling towards you through the water.
Arkail, you see three creatures staring at you, long fangs in their gaping maw, heads twisted around at an unnatural angle.
They hiss and drop down into the water near you with a splash.
Initiatives!
Arkail Jogren: Initiative [1d20+2 = 9]
GM: [1d20 = 16]
GM: [3d20 = 34]
Alusair: Initiative [1d20+3 = 19]
Alusair
Alusair: Huh. Three corpses behind us.
Alusair: Cool beans, lets go play with the bodies.
Alusair: Range to target?
GM: Twenty feet
Alusair: cool beans
Alusair: attack
Alusair: call it the one in front or the one in the middle
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Attack 1) [1d20+15 = 22]
GM: Hit!
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Damage) [1d10+10 = 15]

GM: [1d20 = 13]
GM: [1d6 = 1]
GM: [2d20 = 23]
GM: [2d6 = 2]

One of the creatures that dropped near Arkail scores a grazing blow with it’s dripping teeth.
Arkail Jogren
Nick (Arkail Jogren): so since they are on me I can take a full attack right?
Alex: Yes.
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Attack 2) [1d20+5 = 24]
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Attack 1) [1d20+10 = 26]
Arkail Jogren: [1d8+4 = 10]
Arkail Jogren: [1d8+4 = 12]
Alex: Same one, or different ones?
Nick (Arkail Jogren): same
You manages to score a violent hit against the one who bit you, and take his jaw off on the second swing, dropping him to the floor.
GM: [2d20 = 17]
Nick (Arkail Jogren): nice
The two bodies swing at Alusair, but miss widely.
Alusair

Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Attack 1) [1d20+15 = 17]
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Attack 2) [1d20+10 = 26]
Alusair: two diff

Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Damage) [1d10+10 = 13]
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Damage) [1d10+10 = 19]
THey both drop, cut clean through. One of them is a bit messier than the other, but they both collapse.
GM: [2d20 = 31]
GM: [2d6 = 6]
One of the creatures teeth bounce off Arkail’s sword, but the other’s find their way into his arm, biting deeply.
Arkail Jogren
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Attack 1) [1d20+10 = 12]
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Attack 2) [1d20+5 = 12]

Arkail swings wide, both times.
Alusair
Alusair: Move back towards Arkail
Alusair: can I attack one?
GM: At a dead run, you could make an attack, yes.
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Attack 1) [1d20+15 = 31]
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Damage) [1d10+10 = 12]
Your blade plunges through the ribcage of one, causing it to explode messily in Arkail’s general direction. It drops to the ground, and it’s mate emits an ear-piercing screech.
Alex: Fort saves, all.
Alusair: Fortitude save [1d20+15 = 33]
Arkail Jogren: Fortitude save [1d20+2 = 4]
GM: [5d6 = 19]
Alusair: lord its nice to be a paladin that doesn’t consider cha a dump stat.
Arkail – your ears begin to bleed and ring. You find yourself unable to hear properly.
GM: [1d6 = 1]
GM: [1d6 = 2]

Arkail Jogren
Arkail Jogren swings desperately at the screaming creature.
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Attack 2) [1d20+5 = 25]
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Attack 2) [CRITICAL THREAT]
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Attack 1) [1d20+10 = 20]

Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Damage) [1d8+4 = 6]
Alusair
Alusair: Spell [Cure Light Wounds] -> Cures 1d8 damage +1/level (max +5).
Alusair: attack of opportunity, I suspect
GM: [1d20 = 1]
It trips up on it’s own teeth and bites it’s tongue.
Alusair: to arkail! [1d8+5 = 6]
Alusair: ...
Alusair: yeah, my dice are still broken
Nick (Arkail Jogren): better than nothing
GM: [2d20 = 9]
It gnashes it’s teeth in both of your directions.
Arkail Jogren
Arkail Jogren hacks wildly at the same one.
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Attack 2) [1d20+5 = 18]
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Attack 1) [1d20+10 = 16]
Two hits.
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Damage) [1d8+4 = 9]
Arkail Jogren: Battleaxe Full Attack (Damage) [1d8+4 = 6]

Your last swing brings the creature to it’s knees, where you firmly plant your battleaxe into it’s skull with a satisfying crunch.
Nick (Arkail Jogren): good
Kiergath (Alusair): w00t fatality!
Arkail, you find your hearing recover just in time to hear the aftermath of the crunch.
Arkail Jogren: is there one left or no?
GM: No, that’s 6 corpses.
Arkail Jogren: lower my axe, catch my breath.
The darkness seems to press in on you from all sides in the tunnel. Nearby, a rat sits, staring at you, with an exposed brain.
When you look at it, it scurries off.
Kiergath (Alusair): Wave as it goes.
Your breath eventually returns to you, though it is difficult due to the stench.
Alusair: Spell [Cure Light Wounds] -> Cures 1d8 damage +1/level (max +5).

Alusair: to arkail… [1d8+5 = 10]
Arkail Jogren: Inspect the corpses, are they human?
They are vaguely human, yes. The ones Alusair killed, definately.
Arkail Jogren: Any markings on their clothing that might indicate their origin?
You see little that can identify their place of origin.
Arkail Jogren: “Victims of the Hive?”
Alusair: “Most likely.”
Arkail Jogren: Keep moving.
Alusair: follow
Arkail Jogren: Same direction we were headed. looking all around this time even the ceiling.
You head forward.
A few more random turns, and you find yourself staring at a large chamber, which has a ladder leading down into it. Below, you see the shadows of figures shuffling about.

Arkail Jogren waits and listens.
You hear the occasional moan from below.
Arkail Jogren: Moans, so no comprehensible language. “More undead.”
Arkail Jogren: Is the chamber lit at all or pitch blac?
Alusair: “You sure? They could just be monks.”
It’s all pitch black down there.
Alusair: Look down
Alusair, you see shuffling figures, all in various states of decay, scattered about.
There seems to be a way forward at the end of the cavern.
Alusair: So we don’t actually have to go down at all
Arkail Jogren: Head towards the end of the cavern.
Erm, sorry…at the end of the chamber.
It’s a cavernous chamber.

Arkail Jogren: “Nothing but more zombies or is there something more? I cannot see.”
Alusair: “All I see is zombies.”
Arkail Jogren: “Lets go the end of the chamber leads out it seems.” Test the ladder if its stable climb down.
Alex: It’s stable, indeed.
You climb down. You cound easily 50 undead in the chamber.
Alex: Count, rather

Arkail Jogren wait to see their reaction if any see me.
None seem to see you.
Arkail Jogren motions Alusair to come down.
Although in your waiting, in the center of the chamber, you make out a giant skeleton, easily seven feet tall, covered head to toe in pieces of plate armor.
Alusair: Follow him down
You arrive at the bottom floor. Death, corpses, womens lingerie.
Alusair: “Lovely.”
Arkail Jogren: “What in the nine is this?”
Alusair: “Nowhere you want to be.”
Although the giant skeleton has a fairly gruesome looking greataxe.
Arkail Jogren: Im guessing the skeleton is motionless.
Yes.
It’s eyes seem to glow a dull red.
Arkail Jogren: Walk close to it.
Arkail Jogren: Slowly.

You close the distance…
The undead largely ignore you, despite the fact that they distinctly must know you’re there.
Alusair: “This just doesn’t look good.”
Arkail Jogren: “No, it does not. This could be a guardian of some sort.”
Alusair: “Yoo-hoo! Skeleton! Are you awake in there?”
Alusair: Wave at it.
It does not move.
Alusair: “I’m all out of ideas.”
Arkail Jogren: Slowly reach forward and touch the skeleton.
It’s eyes flare red and it snaps it’s greataxe into a fighting position with unbelievable speed. “NONE WILL DEFILE THE DEAD NATION!”
Initiatives!
Alusair: “Oh, sod all.”
Arkail Jogren: Initiative [1d20+2 = 18]
Alusair: Initiative [1d20+3 = 11]
GM: [1d20 = 1]
Arkail Jogren
Arkail Jogren: Take a quick glance around, have the zombies altered their actions?
Arkail Jogren: If thats a free action.
Not so much. You’d swear one of them is carrying bread. It looks fresh.

Arkail Jogren: And exits are either the ladder or end of the chamber yes?
GM: Yes.
Arkail Jogren: 5 foot step back.
Arkail Jogren: Spell [Fist of Stone] -> Gain +6 str and natural Slam Attack (Complete Aracane page 107-108)
GM: You do so.
Alusair
Alusair: Uh
Alusair: Hm
GM: [10d10 = 70]
Alusair: ..Hm.
Alusair: fuck all, how far away is it?
GM: A charge’s length
Alusair: yeah?
Alusair: Sweet

Alusair: -5 on this attack
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Attack 1) [1d20+15 = 22]
Alusair: ...17
GM: Hits
Alusair: neat
Alusair: this is +10
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Damage) [1d10+10 = 12]
Alusair: 22
A bone cracks and splinters, but the skeleton seems barely moved.
GM: [2d20 = 19]
The Skelton swings at Alusair and clocks her hard with his greataxe.
GM: [1d12 = 10]
Arkail Jogren
Arkail Jogren: Fist of Stone Slam Attack Full attack (Attack 1) +13 [1d20+11 = 14]

Alex: +13?
Nick (Arkail Jogren): I took -2 for power attack
Alex: Ah…shame, cos you missed. :(
Alusair
Nick (Arkail Jogren): blame my dice I bought from Morgan.
Kiergath (Alusair): I was wondering where those went.
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Attack 2) [1d20+10 = 27]
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Attack 1) [1d20+15 = 24]
Alusair: -5 on each
GM: Two hits.
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Damage) [1d10+10 = 12]
Alusair: Bastard Sword +1 (Damage) [1d10+10 = 14]
Alusair: add 10 to each of those
Alusair: ...
Alusair: uh
Alusair: 22 and 24
GM: [2d20 = 27]
GM: [1d20 = 14]
GM: [1d12 = 1]
Alusair gets hit with a glancing blow that draws a bit more blood than it probably should.

Arkail Jogren
Arkail Jogren Swings mightily with his fist at the skeleton’s skull.
Arkail Jogren: Fist of Stone Slam Attack Full attack (Attack 1) +13 [1d20+11 = 30]
Arkail Jogren: Fist of Stone Slam Attack Full attack (Damage) +10 [1d6+12 = 16]
You manage to splinter half of the skeleton’s skull, driving it to it’s knees before it begins to slowly disintigrate before your eyes.
Nick (Arkail Jogren): neat
It’s greataxe clatters to the floor, and you suddenly feel 50-ish pairs of eyes on you.
A low wail goes up all around you, escalating in volume as it continues.
Arkail Jogren: Is there a clear path to the end of the chamber?

GM: Not very clear, no. It’s got maybe, 6 undead in the way
It’s worse when it comes to getting to the ladder.
There seem to be two more suits of armor back that way.
Arkail Jogren: Pick up the battleaxe and make a break towards the end of the chamber exit.
GM: Do you stop if attacked?
GM: Or do you keep running?
Arkail Jogren: keep running can I try a tumble roll?
GM: Sure, sure, try and tumble to avoid the zombies.
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Tumble] [1d20+6 = 18]
GM: [1d20 = 8]
You manage to make it past one!
5 more rolls, please.
Alusair: ugh. Barrel into the lot of them
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Tumble] [1d20+6 = 13]
GM: [5d20 = 38]
Alusair: “Just sodding go!”
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Tumble] [1d20+6 = 9]
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Tumble] [1d20+6 = 24]
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Tumble] [1d20+6 = 16]
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Tumble] [1d20+6 = 8]
Alusair barrels through, and Arkail dodges the falling bodies almost nimbly, nearly catching his foot on the last one. You make it out into the hallway, faced with another T-junction. Each direction has a rat, again with their brains exposed, each staring at you briefly before scurrying off in opposite directions in the tunnels.

Arkail Jogren: head right.
You dart to the right, then down several more tunnels. The wailing is far behind now, but you feel extremely lost.
Up ahead, you see three rats perched in a drainage runoff near the cieling, staring at you.
Alusair: “Oh, yes, this is lovely.”
Alex: brb…looking for food
Nick (Arkail Jogren): is a cranium rat like a brain mole?
Alex: ...er…no, not really

Kiergath (Alusair): Not even vaguely.
Kiergath (Alusair): Well, vaguely.
You continue on, and eventually, you hear a mass of squeaking, followed by a female shriek.
Arkail Jogren: “What are we up against here? Rats?”
Alusair: “Uh.. and the aforementioned undead.”
Arkail Jogren: Still pitch black I take it?
Arkail Jogren: Move forward with my battle axe in hand.
GM: Yes.
Arkail Jogren: torch in the other

You continue on, and you see a room, ahead… a beautiful woman with flowing red hair, surrounded by fifty rats, barely clothed. The rats quiver as one, and the woman cries out for help, and then they are upon her, swarming over her mercilessly. By the time you get to the entrance of the room, her screams have ceased, and nothing remains but bones covered in rats.
Alusair blinks
Kiergath (Alusair): brb.
Arkail Jogren: Do the rats look normal?
Arkail Jogren: Or are they cranium rats?
The rats appear to be normal, aside from the fact that each one of their brains is exposed.
Arkail Jogren: Have I heard of these things before?
You’ve heard their tails are much sought after good luck charms, and are often fastened into earrings.
You have also heard that they steal small children and devour them if they don’t eat their vegetables, that they horde massive quantities of gold, and that they’re allergic to baatezu spit.

Arkail Jogren: Does the room have a door?
Through the rats, or to the far left and right of the room.
Arkail Jogren: Where we are standing at the enterance to the room with the rats.
Arkail Jogren: Actually Ill take a quick glance around the room any doors at all?
GM: If you are S, exits are N, E, W and Dennis
Arkail Jogren: open exits or exits with doors?
Open exits.
Arkail Jogren: Does it seem the rats have noticed us?
GM: In a word? Yes.
Alex: I’ll leave you to think about the mess you’re in. I’ll brb with pizza.

Kiergath (Alusair): I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts…
Arkail Jogren: Back up slowly. “Al?”
Alusair: “Yeah. This is a problem.”
The rats turn towards you, menacingly. They lick their blood stained lips.

Alusair: “I’m beginning to hate this place.”
Arkail Jogren: Is there any path we could have taken but didnt on the way here that might not lead us back to the zombie area?
Not really. It’s hard to remember all the turns you’ve been taking.
You can try and backtrack, if you want.
Arkail Jogren: “I dont see any option, to me I see only rats but their reputation I doubt is exaggerated.”
Alusair: “Quite?”
Arkail Jogren: Retreat.
Alusair: Hey, look at me, I’m following!
You beat a hasty retreat, with the rat swarm following you.
Left, or right?
Arkail Jogren: Left.
GM: You manage to lose the rats.
However, now you aren’t quite sure where you are.
Arkail Jogren activates his tricorder.

However, you get a bit of a chill in the air, as though there was a breeze coming from up ahead.
Alusair licks her thumb, sticks it in the air and waits a moment.
Alusair: “Yep. We’re underground.”
Alusair: walk that way.
Arkail Jogren: Follow.
You do so… and begin seeing signs of swaying cobwebs.
Alusair: “Lovely.”
rat corpses are caught in the occasional web.
Alusair: ...condition of rat corpses?
GM: Wrapped.
Arkail Jogren: Set the cobwebs on fire.
Alusair: Keep a-goin’
You enter the hallway, which is now a blazing inferno.
Alusair: Keep goin’
Alusair: :P
Arkail! You can see!
Alusair: LOL
You see so well, in fact, that you can make out ten skittering forms coming towards you on the walls, floor, and cieling.
Arkail Jogren: Spiders? What size?
Cat-sized.
Alusair: ”...”
Kiergath (Alusair): no wonder they eat rats.
Arkail Jogren: Large, easy enough.
GM: Hm?
Alusair: Whatever, attack. They clearly don’t like us.
Arkail Jogren: Drop the torch, stow the battleaxe wield the great axe of the skeleton.

GM: [1d20 = 6]
Very well.

Alusair: ...lovely.

Arkail Jogren: Charge the big spider.
Arkail Jogren: plus 2 for charge?
GM: Er…+2 what?
Arkail Jogren: to hit or is there no bonus I forget
No bonus to hit. Just a damage bonus.

Alusair: greataxe.. x3
Arkail Jogren: should have been 10 + 54
Ah…gotcha.
Arkail Jogren: I think
The spider…ruptures…and explodes into a gory puddle.
Arkail Jogren: back away from the spider
You do so.
Arkail Jogren: still flames about so I can see? Ill retrieve my torch anyway.
Arkail Jogren: Take a quick look around then press onward.
No real flames remaining, although your torch seems refreshed.
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Search] [1d20+1 = 18]
You try to squeeze past the spider carcass?
Arkail Jogren: Try to pull it out.
You pull it out in front of the spider?
Arkail Jogren: Pull the spider out of the hallway its blocking.
Arkail Jogren: I didnt say whip it out :P
There’s not really anywhere to pull the spider to. You’re in a hallway, and you got there from turning a corner.
Arkail Jogren: Ah I see I had thought we were in a larger opening.

Arkail Jogren: Try to squeeze past.
You do so… you squeeze past, and see before you a large chamber filled with spider webs of various sizes.
Arkail Jogren: Wait there.
You wait?
Arkail Jogren: Continue forward slowly.
You do so.
Arkail Jogren: draw battleaxe, stow greataxe.
Before you, you see at least ten of the spider you just laid waste to, and many times more bundled corpses.
Arkail Jogren: 10 of the big ones?
Yes.
Arkail Jogren: But they can only get to us one at a time because of the hallway.

Right now, you’re at the edge of a really large room.
Arkail Jogren: Right, if we were to fight them we would have to draw them in.
Arkail Jogren: “If we are going to fight them we should draw them here.”
Your words ring hollow in the cavern around ytou.
Arkail Jogren: Do we still feel a breeze from this direction?
The breeze has long since ceased, since you stepped into the cavern.
Arkail Jogren: Rest against the side of the cavern. Pull out some rations and water.
You ration and you water.
Nick (Arkail Jogren): waiting to see if Alusair has any ideas.
You get the distinct feeling that you are being watched by the spiders in the cavern.
Kiergath (Alusair): I had a really, really good one actually.
You wait in silence for quite some time. The clack of the spiders legs against the stone keeps the time.

Arkail Jogren: Put away my belongings. Stand up. “Forward or back again?”
Kiergath (Alusair): Yep.. reeeally good one.
You hear a faint echo in the cavern. ”...again….”
A shiver runs down your spine, Arkail.
GM: Spot check?
Arkail Jogren: Head back squeeze past the spider again.

You squeeze past the spider.
The hallway is devoid of life.
It is also devoid of unlife.
Arkail Jogren: follow the voice.
Following the voice would bring you back into the cavern.
GM: Sniff…check?
GM: Con…?
Kiergath (Alusair): wisdom.
Arkail Jogren: Constitution check [1d20+2 = 15]
Wisdom, rather.
Wis? :)
Arkail Jogren: Wisdom check [1d20+1 = 20]
Arkail Jogren: woot
Your nose is working overtime, despite the smell of guts around. You smell the faint odor of tabac from down the hallway.
Arkail Jogren: Head in that direction.
Can I get two more wisdom checks?
Arkail Jogren: Wisdom check [1d20+1 = 7]
Arkail Jogren: Wisdom check [1d20+1 = 2]
Arkail Jogren: what is tabac anyway?

Your nose gets clogged, and you start going blue in the face before you remember how to breathe.
Alex: Tobacco
2x Wisdom again?
Arkail Jogren: Wisdom check [1d20+1 = 20]
Arkail Jogren: Wisdom check [1d20+1 = 9]
You make a couple more turns, before the smell gets stronger.
Up ahead, you see a small drainage pipe with a faint glow coming from it, illuminating the entrance to the tunnel, a small spot on the opposite wall, and a faint curl of smoke coming from the pipe.
Arkail Jogren: head in that direction
Arkail Jogren: so as not to be seen
Arkail Jogren: quietly
You sneak?!
Arkail Jogren: ya
Roll SNEAK!
Arkail Jogren: Skill [Move Silently] [1d20+5 = 22]
Arkail Jogren: want hide too or no?
You creep up on the pipe, stopping before you step into the beam of light.
Arkail Jogren: do i sense anything ahead?
You hear something in the drainpipe that is jutting out of the wall.
Nothing is down the tunnel ahead.
Arkail Jogren: Continue down the tunnel.

You bypass the drainage pipe, and step in front of the beam of light?
Arkail Jogren: Ill toss something into the beam first
Arkail Jogren: a rock
You toss a rock into the beam of light. You hear an echoing “crack-THOOOOOOOOM” from the drainage pipe, and you see the rock fly into the wall before disintigrating into a thousand rocklets.
Arkail Jogren: Is there a logical way to bypass the beam and continue?
GM: Not really.
Arkail Jogren: Turn back.
Arkail Jogren: look for another path.
Before you turn back, you notice that the light has been getting more intense as you have been watching the pipe.
Listen check?
Arkail Jogren: ok

Arkail Jogren: Skill [Listen] [1d20+3 = 7]
You hear the occasional “Clank-tap-tap” from the drainage pipe, getting louder.
Arkail Jogren: Wait a while and watch what happens.
Arkail Jogren: Inspect the walls around me as well anything odd about them? Do they seem constructed?
The walls all seem to be consistant architecture.
Standing to the side of the tunnel, you see a figure advancing slowly through the drainage pipe. Visible at first only because of the beam of light proceeding him through the tunnel, is a short figure, crouched and carrying a lantern in one hand and a large, unpleasant looking pistol in the other. The flare of a cigar illuminates, briefly, rugged features obscured by a wide-brimmed hat and a full red beard. As he gets closer, you begin to notice a particularly eclectic collection of hardware hanging from his person, from weapons to tools to items you can’t even begin to grasp the use of.
Arkail Jogren: “Hey thar!”

Arkail Jogren: Put my weapon away
Dwarf: “Who the bloody hell are you?”
Arkail Jogren: “Names Arkail, took a wrong turn down here and got a bit lost. Wanna help me get outta here?”
Dwarf: “I’d be lyin’ if I said I had a clue where we were, lad.”
Dwarf steps out of the drainage pipe and looks around.
Arkail Jogren: “Whats your story? Dwarf where ya from?”
Dwarf: “Keledul!”
Dwarf: “Name’s Jurgen.”
Arkail Jogren: “Never heard of Keledul. But thats not surprising everyone around here is from someplace different. My traveling companion disappeared a while back when we were fighting some spiders, you havent seen a (describes Alusair) around have you?”
Jürgen Dagramar whistles, “Wowww-ee.. No such luck, boy-o. I’d remember that.”

Jürgen Dagramar: “All I know, chief, is one second I’m scouting through a tunnel, aye? The best man always on point, you know how it is, so naturally I’m in the lead.”
Jürgen Dagramar: “And this bloody damn big kobold leaps out of a great behind me, gives me a shove, sends me flyin’ over two of his mates what’re kneeling in the dark infront of me, and I go flying down a drain pipe.”
Jürgen Dagramar: “Next thing you know, bam! I’m in this hole.”
Arkail Jogren: “Turned around and she was gone. Funny thing. So how long you been down here?”
Jürgen Dagramar: “Euhh… a while an’ a bit?”
Arkail Jogren: “Alright well I gotta tell you this is no friendly place. Spiders, rats, and worse Ive run into.”
Jürgen Dagramar: “Rats? Spiders? Wot kind’ve <dwarven> would run from a bunch’a creepy-crawlies?”

Arkail Jogren: “Dont know. Dont even know if she ran or simply… left, was captured behind my back or whatnot.”
Jürgen Dagramar: “Huh. Typical. Never trust a woman in a combat op, no matter what those infernal bouncin’ crackpots say.”
Jürgen Dagramar: “Still, anyone wot finances breweries can’t be all bad… errr.. what were we discussin’?”
Kiergath (Jürgen Dagramar): other than that I suspect the DM wants to leave.
Arkail Jogren: “Dunno, you lost me.”
Nick (Arkail Jogren): oh yes didnt notice the time.
Alex: ...this is true, I just wanted to give you guys the chance to wrap up
Nick (Arkail Jogren): I think we are about finished.
Kiergath: yep
Alex: Alright! Goodies!

SESSION END
The party arrives in the hive, at the entrance of the sewers. They encounter a small group of undead, which they dispatch swiftly, but not without Arkail going temporarily deaf. They make their way into the Dead Nations, where Arkail activates a Guardian by touching it. Arkail smashes it’s skull with his fist, and they run, frantically, to escape the Dead Nations. They encounter their first swarm of Cranium rats, devouring a beautiful woman. They retreat, only to find themselves in a den of spiders. Arkail deals out death to them, only to find a larger spider, which he slays. He moves on past the carcass, only to find a hive of more spiders. He turns back, finding that Alusair has left. He smells the odd odor of tabac down the hallway, and investigates, periodically forgetting how to breathe. He encounters a drainage pipe, within which is an adventuresome dwarf. They agree to help each other get un-lost in the tunnels, and the dwarf introduces himself as “Jürgen Dagramar”.
